San Angelo State Park is conveniently located near the town of San Angelo, Texas. The sites are well spaced and most have great views of the surrounding landscape. We stayed in site 12 in Red Arroyo Section for a week. The park facilities are dated and one of the shower houses did not have operating hot water, but the one operating worked well for me. The park offers hiking and since traffic was at a minimum while we were there, the park interior roads are also great for riding a bicycle. I rode over into the North Concho area on several occasions. Lost Alaskan RV Park in Alpine, Texas is conveniently located to both Marfa, Texas and the Davis Mountains Scenic Loop which should include a stop at the McDonald Observatory.
