Gulpha Gorge Campground in Hot Springs National Park

Melanie and I were here during Trump's government shutdown. Because of this, there were no services (water or electricity). There are no showers or laundry facilities here, but there is a structure with toilets and it was locked. The trash cans were being emptied regularly.

The sites located within the campground are full-hookup sites which is a bit of an anomaly for National Parks. The park was virtually empty except for us and three other campsites and the two sites occupied by volunteers camped there. The park grounds were also very clean, I assume the volunteers were responsible for the condition of the park since there were no rangers were  around. When officially open, the park is first come, first served, no reservations are accepted. I'm guessing, depending on the time of year, the campground is most likely a busy place.

Located close to town, it is both walkable via a trail leaving from the campground and accessible via bicycle. We rode our bikes into town several times. There's a road directly in front of the campground that is busy during the morning and evening "rush" hours. Otherwise, the campground is a quiet place.
