![]() September 16, 2018 @ 11:10 a.m. Danny from Van City contacted me on the 13th to let me know our LTV was out of production. He got back with me later in the day to give me the VIN and to let me know that another of their customers had a van on order and it would be finished the end of September and both vans would then be shipped to St. Louis by around the second week of October. While we'd both preferred to take delivery at the end of the month obviating the necessity of renting our furnished apartment another month (edit: after hearing me discussing our rental, Melanie corrected me about month to month, we'll be day to day, 14 day notice after September, much better), Melanie and I have wrapped our heads around the idea of being in Birmingham, or just south of Birmingham proper, for another month [or less]. I'm hoping when we pick up the van we can check out what's left of fall color between St. Louis and Birmingham. There will be stops in Louisville to visit friends who don't yet know of our purchase. We're excited to share what we done gone and done with them. There's also the obligatory stop in Nashville to show our son, Tate, the vehicle. He's been privileged to much of our planning and so he's about as excited as we are to see our new home. Finally, before returning to Birmingham, we'll most likely make a stop in Tate City, Georgia where friends have a summer house in the mountains. The location is in a beautiful valley at near the headwaters of the Tallulah River. I've been hiking and backpacking in the area for many years now and feel certain we'll be stopping by to catch up and boondock at least a few times a year as we travel.
