We traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah for a few days of R&R away from Dinosaur National Monument and to get a few items taken care of on the Sprinter.
While there we spent a morning sautering around Red Butte Gardens in a light rain, the first substantial rain we'd seen since arriving in Utah back in April. Located in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, the setting provides nices views of the surrounding mountains and a great view into downtown Salt Lake City. Since it was late August, the flowers were beginning to fade so I chose to (mostly) document by making macro images of various flowers that remained. The gardens are among the best we've experienced and we recommend a visit. Plus, you're next door to the Natural History Museum of Utah.

"Imagine this: the crisp air of dawn, the sun just cresting over the nearby rocky peaks. Beneath your feet, [the green of the Middle School soccer field], with each step as you approach a vibrant splash of nylon laid out on the ground. With a roar, the burner ignites, sending a rush of warm air into the nylon, transforming it into a billowing balloon. You climb aboard the woven basket and the earth begins to recede, revealing a breathtaking panorama of red rock or mountainous terrain. This is hot air ballooning in [Vernal, Utah], an unforgettable experience."- borrowed from Utah Elevated
